Maria Muldaur
has sung it all; blues, rock, jazz, big band swing, folk, and the list goes on. "Midnight
at the Oasis", Maria's first solo effort went platinum in the USA . The
classic single, which featured an excellent guitar solo by Amos Garrett is still
heard on adult contemporary, pop and classic rock formats nationwide. Maria Muldaur's "Richland
Woman Blues", a collection of classic blues songs from the '20s and '30s
is earning standing ovations in Canada. Greg Quill in a review wrote in the Toronto's
Saturday Star, "We may never hear music like this played again with such
authority, wit and energy."
We are pleased to welcome musical legend Maria Muldaur for
a a private benefit concert on January 8th at noon at the future site of Hacienda
Los Pirules and seating is limited. This benefit is for Project CASA, a San Miguel Organization that provides Peer Counseling, a Child Development Center,
a Professional School of Midwifery, and a Maternity Hospital, among other programs. The following day we will use the same sets and equipment from the Benefit Concert to host a Christmas party for both the Boys' and Girls' Orphanages of San Miguel de Allende.

Album of the Decade: that's what famed producer Jerry Wexler calls Maria
Muldaur's new Stony Plain album, 'Richland Woman Blues'. "It's an exceptional
record," he's
telling everyone - and he regards it as "a personal mission" to bring the attention
to his myriad contacts in the industry. Among those he's forwarded personal
copies to are Timothy White, editor in chief of Billboard, and Jann Wenner, publisher
of Rolling Stone.
The reviews for the record have been uniformly enthusiastic, both in Canada
(where it was initially released, a month before at appeared elsewhere) and in
the United States. Sample quotes:
"The blues have never sounded so sweet. And so genuine. 'Richland
Women Blues' is Maria Muldaur's latest release in an eclectic and illustrious
career that has spanned four decades - and it's sure to be an indelible acoustic
blues classic. Every song is a simple wonder...it all connects straight
from the head to the heart to the toes to the soul." - Mike Bell, Calgary Sun. |
